The different possibilities range from expensive to free depending on your feature needs and wants, size of your community, and hosting options. Here’s a few good ones.
Leverage Software http://www.leveragesoftware.com
starts at $300/month with a comprehensive feature list.
webNetwork, about $200 for the software.http://www.webscribble.com
Host on your own system or ISP.
For extra $, host on webscribble systems.
ONEsitehttp://www.onesite.com/products.html
offers several levels of communities, including a basic free community.
I’ve researched quite a few Open Source content management systems recently.
What I think you need is Joomla (www.joomla.org). Joomla has some great extensions, including one called Community Builder. If you go to the Joomla site then go to extensions, you’ll see the vast range available. Check out community builder it may be just what you need.
If you need web hosting see this article for hosts that provide the things you need for hosting Joomla – http://www.bestaffiliateprogramguide.com…
