Free websites are not always your best bet… you take a chance with pop-up ads, hosts disappearing, no support, and little in the way of features.

There is only one company I would recommend (and i’ve tried a lot including GoDaddy). For value for money, features, reliability and customer services I recommend 1&1!!!
They have some great deals. Even their basic home package comes with great tools as well as a free domain name.
